Jeep Trails & Toll Roads

Toll Roads to Virginia City from Reno
Virginia City Toll Road
Using your SUV or fast mule, we take you on the old toll roads first built in the 1860's to move lumber and riches in and out of Virginia City and the Comstock. Travel to the townsite of Lousetown and the site of one of the first horse racetracks in the West. We end up back in Reno (if we don't get stuck!) in time for dinner.

Vehicle: 4WD
Offered: Year Round, Weather Permitting

Pony Express Trail and Fort Churchill
Fort Churchill
We drive through scenic canyons along the Carson River following the Express riders and end up at Fort Churchill, built by the US Army in 1861 to protect local settlers and the riches of the Comstock Lode. See the well-preserved ruins of the fort, and experience several miles of the actual Pony Express trail. Great trip for a large group!

Vehicle: Any (dirt road is bumpy)
Offered: Year Round

Carson City to Woodfords
We explore this part of the "Carson Cutoff" through the State Capital, then on to the stage stations of Genoa, Woodfords, and Walley's Hot Springs all the way to the foot of the Sierras. Beautiful country, easy driving, and plenty of vistas make this a great trip for anyone, especially those with trouble walking.
